What are biometric systems?
Activating an electronic device using a reading of a part of our body.  This is the practical application of biometrics above all in the field of doors, windows and security.  Opening a door with a finger, or an eye reading is now possible and Apar is able to offer you these products to replace traditional locks.

Some examples in use

Residential
For example you can allow entry of a home carer at a certain time and be sure that only she, or rather her finger, can open the door at that particular time.  You can subsequently see all comings and goings in order to have a convenient record of hours to be paid without being present yourself.

You can tie your finger to the opening of the safe.  If the intruder makes you open the door using threats, you can open it by using a certain finger but at the same time setting off an alarm which will not ring, but will be heard by Security agents.

Hotels
On check-in imprints of guests can be taken and memorized before using the sauna, pool, gym and any other facility they request with a considerable reduction in personnel costs.

Companies
Protecting reserved areas is no longer a problem and access can be given only to those people registered by this system.  All movements are memorized.

The Future Market
The world of biometrics is expanding and its developments are fascinating.
Market technology is divided as follows:
52.1% finger-print recognition
12.4% facial recognition
10% hand recognition
13.2% other recognition
5.9% iris recognition
4.4% vocal recognition
2.2% signature recognition

Fingerprint recognition is the most widely used at the moment owing to its wide range of application.

Which is the best?
There is no exact answer.  The required use depends on various factors:  ease of use, development and registration.  Reliability, precision and cost. Retina recognition, for example is expensive but highly efficient.

What are the advantages of biometrics?
There are advantages both for who manages the system and for the final consumer.  One example is the possibility to monitor and allow access only to people in a secure way, without risk of key or badge being given to others.
